Do you ever feel nostalgic about the good ole days and desire to go back in time when life felt simple? When life felt easy and carefree?
Every now and then something will trigger a memory for me of a simpler time in my life and that happened to me recently. A good friend of mine shared a post with a photo of some pussy willows that her husband brought home for her and it reminded me of the pussy willows my grandmother had in her home when I was growing up. I saved them and love how they take me back to a time in my youth when I felt happy and at peace.
This week I did a gratitude exercise in my coaching program and wrote down 5 things in the present and 5 things in the future for which I am grateful. We then added the word because at the end of each thing to take it a step further. After the gratitude exercise, I did a guided meditation and was asked to drift back to an earlier time in my life and see an image of a younger version of myself and focus on what I was doing and how I felt at that time. We focused on various time periods in our life but the one that really stood out to me was when I was 8 years old.
During the meditation, I was able to connect with my inner child, that 8 year old girl, in such a profound way. I felt happy and free. I did not remember feeling stuck or hindered by any limiting beliefs and thought patterns. I was only able to see the good.
The 8 year old little girl who I saw during my meditation is the same one you see in the portrait behind my grandmother’s pussy willows. My grandmother painted that portrait of me and captured so much detail in that painting. She even made sure to include that crazy cowlick on my forehead that I was not too thrilled about at the time.
Do you remember a time in your life when you felt like nothing could prevent you from pursuing your goals and dreams? Would you like to reconnect with that feeling and experience it again today?
The feeling is the secret! Don’t let feelings of inadequacy or outside circumstances prevent you from tapping into your divine self, the person that God created and designed to impact the world in a beautiful, profound and unique way. Let’s get the conversation started!
